Enrico Scotta
Biography
Italian artist Enrico Scotta was born in 1949 in Perugia, a city marked by layered cultural histories that continue to resonate in his work. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti, training in painting, drawing and ceramics, later specialising in the restoration of paintings. From the outset, his practice has been shaped by the interplay between human, technical and cultural forms and their transformation over time.
His work in Italy, the Netherlands, Brazil (Latin America) and Germany draws on the myths, styles and materials in these different cultures, receiving international recognition, including the Queen Beatrix Prize in the Netherlands and the Brazilian “Artist of the Year” award in São Paulo. Since 1998, he has been based in Radebeul, near Dresden.
